Richmond Spiders vs St. Marys Gaels Preview & Prediction
Richmond has spent much of the season battling from behind but has had success doing it. They can steal the ball, and have a good defense which leaves other teams stumbling. They are led by Anderson, Gonzalvez, and Butler who all pulled 50 steals each. They keep the pace high and can shoot from anywhere on the court. To win they need to score early to take off late game pressure.
Saint Mary’s can cause its fair share of defensive pressure which opens up opportunities for their guards. McConnell stepped up this season and Dellavedova is a smart player who has been noticed by the NBA. The starters are use to getting most of the minutes, as the bench is a bit thin. They are consistent, and shoot from pretty much anywhere, but an injury would force a freshman into the game and lessen their chances. Expect this team to play strong down to the finish.
The odds makers have the Spiders as -2-point favorites.
The Gaels are averaging 10 more points per game than Richmond and I expect that to be the winning ingredient in this one as St. Mary’s squashes the Spiders by eight.
