#6 Purdue Boilermakers (19-3) vs. #10 Michigan State Spartans (19-5)
The No.10 Michigan State Spartans will be looking to extend its 18-game home winning streak when they host the No.6 Purdue Boilermakers in a Big 10 clash on Tuesday at Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing, Michigan.

The Spartans knocked off the Boilermakers 62-51 in their previous meeting on March 8, 2009, extending Purdue’s losing streak at the Breslin Center to nine. The Boilermakers have lost by an average of 11.1 points in each one of those nine losses.
Purdue will look to stay in the Big 10 race by winning its sixth straight on Tuesday evening. The Boilermakers are coming off a 78-75 win at in-state rival Indiana on Thursday night. Purdue scoring leader Robbie Hummel put up 21 points, as did junior forward JaJuan Johnson while E’Twaun Moore added 14 points for the Boilermakers in the win. Johnson has averaged a team-high 18.6 points during the current win streak. Moore has scored 12 points in each of his two career visits to East Lansing while Johnson has averaged 7.0. If the Boilermakers can win in the Breslin Center, it will be for the first time in 12 years.
In the meantime, the Spartans will be without top scorer and playmaker junior guard Kalin Lucas who sprained an ankle in Michigan’s first conference loss to then-No.16 Wisconsin 67-49. MSU followed up with a 78-73 loss to Illinois on Saturday, dropping to 9-2 in the conference. Draymond Green scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the loss. The Spartans allowed Illinois to shoot whopping 52.5 percent while coughing up 18 turnovers. So how much will MSU feel from the loss of Lucas? A lot. He has averaged 17.8 points in four career games against the Boilermakers, and scored a game-high 21 points in a 62-51 win over Purdue on March 8
The odds makers have the Spartans as –2 ½ -point favorites and a game total of 138 ½ in this one.
The key to wining this game will be rebounding. Purdue are being outrebounded in Big 10 competition, 34.5 to 32.1 while MSU is averaging 40.2 per game against conference foes.
I expect this to be a tight one with the Spartans edging out an important 5-point win at home, and the OVER.
