2009-2010 Niagara Season Preview
Niagara’s 26 wins last season were the most by the program in nearly 60 years. However, the Purple Eagles settled for a National Invitation Tournament appearance because of a loss to Siena in the MAAC title game. Except for Benson Egemonye, who graduated, the roster remains intact, so Niagara again figures to be Siena’s top challenger. This team should continue to do what coach Joe Mihalich’s teams traditionally do best – score. Tyrone Lewis is perhaps the league’s most explosive player, and Bilal Benn is a stat-sheet stuffer. One area for improvement is shot selection, as the Purple Eagles were just 30.5 percent from 3-point range a year ago.
