Even those betting on Super Bowl odds had to have heard about the week Kansas had in college hoops. Having their 69-game winning streak at home snapped wasn’t even close to the worst thing that happened, as one of their members suffered a devastating personal loss. Look for that fuel the Jayhawks as they welcome rival Kansas State to “The Phog”.
Kansas State Kansas Betting – Saturday, 7:00 PM ET
The Wildcats (14-7, 2-4) have been in an awful funk lately, and they didn’t even play their best against Baylor at home, but they came away with a 69-61 win over Baylor on Monday. Jacob Pullen dropped 17 points, while Will Spradling also came off the bench with 17 points for the Wildcats, who shot only 36.5% from the field, and they hit just six of their 18 three-point attempts. The Wildcats forced 17 turnovers along the way and had a 33-23 edge on the glass, but soccer betting players may compare Kansas State to Liverpool, except for the storied history. Both had high expectations, and both came crashing down to earth this season, albeit for much different reasons.
The No.6 Jayhawks (19-1, 4-1) rebounded from their first win of the season with an 82-78 win at Colorado, powered by 17 points from freshman Josh Selby, Marcus Morris added 15 for Kansas, who was playing without Thomas Robinson. The super sub was in Washington tending to family matters after his mother’s sudden death, and he has now lost his mother, grandmother and grandfather in the last three weeks. The team flew to Washington on Thursday for the funeral, and it’s more poignant for the Morris twins, who grew up in the same area as the Robinson family. It’s a testament to Robinson that he played in Saturday’s home loss to Texas, as his mom passed away on Friday night.
Betting services will favor the Jayhawks to start a new streak at home, where they last lost to the Wildcats in 2006. We’re not counting on Robinson to play in this game, but we’re betting on the Jayhawks to win this game for the memory of his mother. Robinson is a huge part of this team, the Jayhawks will be eager to get out there and erase the loss to Texas, and it’s a rivalry game against the Wildcats, who have lost nine of their last 10 overall against the Jayhawks. Kansas State is just getting Curtis Kelly back to game speed after he missed six games because of a suspension, which means the Morris brothers should run rampant on the inside, and they’re going to need a massive game from Pullen to upset Kansas. We’re putting the Jayhawks in our sports betting picks this weekend.
