2010-2011 Mississippi Season Preview
Powered by one of the best backcourts in the Southeastern Conference, Ole Miss averaged 78,4 points per game to rank second in the league last season. The Rebels tied Mississippi State for the West Division championship, reached the semifinals of the NIT for the second time in three seasons and won 24 games, the second most in school history. If the Rebels plan on getting there for the first time since 2002, they’ll need Warren to carry them. Mississippi loses three of its top five scorers – most notably 6-5 guard Terrico White, who was picked in the second round of the NBA Draft. White’s departure wasn’t a huge surprise, but then reliable power forward Murphy Holloway left to fulfill family obligations and Eniel Polynice transferred to Seton Hall. Despite the roster shake-up, Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy has confidence in his veterans and rookies.

Mississippi Backcourt
This will be unequivocally Warren’s team. He led the Rebels in scoring (17.2 points per game) while shooting 40,4 percent from behind the arc and 81.7 percent at the free throw line en route to earning second team All-SEC honors. Joining him on the perimeter will be fellow senior Zach Graham, a solid 6-6 scorer who is on pace to join the 1,000-point club. Two newcomers figure to have a big impact on the wing. Kennedy called freshman point guard Dundrecous Nelson one of the most athletic players he’s ever signed at Ole Miss and may play him alongside Warren at times. Indiana transfer Nick Williams will be eligible and gives the team another scoring option who has played at a high level. Kennedy is hopeful Trevor Gaskins will return to the form that earned him a spot on the 2007-08 All-SEC Freshman team.
Mississippi Frontcourt
Junior Terrance Henry has steadily improved in his first two years. The 6-9 forward has gotten stronger, expanded his game on offense and is a terrific defender. Reginald Buckner, who was limited with a high ankle sprain, showed some flashes of being a low post scoring threat and is expected to be more consistent. Freshman center Demarco Cox is a beast at 6-8, 295 pounds, but like former LSU star Glen “Big Baby” Davis, Cox is surprisingly nimble, runs great and is a back-to-the basket scorer. JC transfer Steadman Short and aggressive freshman combo forward Isaiah Massey will give the Rebels some depth inside.
2010-2011 Mississippi Predictions
Is Warren good enough to lead the Rebels to another SEC West title? No matter how terrific he is, he will undoubtedly need some help. The Rebels future depends on it. Mississippi Finish in the SEC: 3rd in West Division
