2010-2011 Loyola Chicago Season Preview

A hot start (11-2) last season – not all against Division I opponents – created some excitement around the Ramblers, who didn’t do as well in the second half (3-14 to the wire) with a young group of players. Coach Jim Whitesell boosted his team’s size with incoming 6-8 freshman John Gac from Chicago Mount Carmel and is also helped by gaining an extra year for Andy Polka, who missed most of his junior year with an ankle injury. Point guard Gabe Kindred is back after missing all last season with a foot injury, and the Ramblers are hoping for a comeback from Jordan Hicks, who was one of the team’s best players toward the end of his freshman season (23 points, eight rebounds in victory over Butler) but didn’t play much last year. Sixth Man of the Year Walt Gibler also returns.
