2010-2011 Louisiana Monroe Season Preview

Former Louisiana Tech coach Keith Richard, a Louisiana-Monroe alumnus, replaces Orlando Early, who resigned after going 60-92 in five seasons. The 10th winningest coach ever in terms of Sun Belt Conference games (69.6 percent), Richard cleaned house in a hurry with an intense focus on the schoors academic recovery plan. Consequently, only two players – fortunately starters who happen to be seniors – remain who were real contributors last season. Rudy Turner, the team’s leading rebounder and shot-blocker, transferred to McNeese State. Moreover, the three returning reserves – all guards – are no longer with the team. With the West Division absolutely loaded, the rebuilding Warhawks finishing anywhere other than last place would merit a second Sun Belt Coach of the Year award for Richard.
