2010-2011 Illinois Chicago Season Preview

All six recruits remained on board even after coach Jimmy Collins announced his retirement on July 20 and the school took its time to name a replacement, Howard Moore, a Chicago native who spent the last five seasons coaching in the Big Ten as assistant at Wisconsin, his alma mater. Moore was instrumental in bringing Chicago recruits to play for the Badgers. Collins was 218-208 in 14 years at UIC and was expecting a much better season with an experienced recruiting class. Four of the recruits are from junior college and 6-8 forward Paul Carter is from the University of Minnesota. He was awaiting word from the NCAA on his immediate eligibility since his transfer is so he can be near his 14-year-oLd sister, undergoing treatment for cancer. Three starters return, with Robo Kreps one of the best returning scorers in the league. Birton had his time reduced for a time last season with a shoulder injury, which appears to have healed.
