2009-2010 Illinois Chicago Season Preview

This is a veteran team despite the loss of guard Josh Mayo and center Scott VanderMeer to graduation. With three newcomers – including 6-7 junior college transfer Brad Birton – the Flames expect to be in the race. After all, the Flames won five consecutive games to end Last season before losing to eventual Horizon League Tournament champion Cleveland State by only three points. Spencer Stewart missed some games last season with an injury that badly hurt the team’s point guard play. And even with VanderMeer gone, the Flames will be one of the biggest teams in the league.
