2009-2010 Hofstra Season Preview
The Pride returns a mix of seven players who started games, but also loses five role players who figured in coach Tom Pecora’s scheme. Charles Jenkins and Cornelius Vines could conceivably be one of the top backcourts on the East Coast. Jenkins led Hofstra to 21 wins, as his average of 19.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists made him one of only six players in the nation to average at least 19 points, four rebounds and four assists per game. He also took nearly one-third of the Pride’s free-throw attempts and shot better than 82 percent. Vines led the Pride with 72 3-pointers, as he and Jenkins are joined by returnee Tony Dennison in the backcourt. Hofstra averaged nearly 41 rebounds per game last season and needs a go-to player to emerge inside.
