2009-2010 Gonzaga Season Preview
The Bulldogs have endured heavy departures before, notably after the 2000 and 2004 seasons. But along with 64 percent of their scoring and rebounding, the Zags have apparently shed public expectation, too. For the first time in six years, they won’t start the season ranked and the usual murderous pre-New Year’s schedule may keep them that way. An enormous burden falls on the Lone returning starter, doeverything guard Matt Bouldin, but Gonzaga’s run of 11 NCAA Tournament appearances is more dependent on other factors: Steven Gray becoming a nightin-night-out producer, center Robert Sacre staying healthy and a couple pieces from a six-player recruiting class asserting themselves, the most intriguing being Sudanese swingman Bol Kong.
