2010-2011 Georgia State Season Preview
Rod Barnes must be scratching his head after his senior-dominated Panthers tallied only 12 wins and a tie for ninth in the CAA. Now he is virtually starting over as lone returning starter Marques Johnson averaged 20.6 minutes and only 2.6 points per game last season. The returning depth is thin, so the Panthers’ seven-man recruiting class – made up of four freshmen and three junior college prospects – could immediately fit into the scheme. Barnes hopes the infusion of new talent will lead to more pace on offense after Georgia State was last in the league in scoring, averaging 62.3 points per game while shooting only 41.8 percent from the floor.
