#21 Florida State Seminoles (6-1) v #15 Ohio State Buckeyes (5-1)
The No. 21 Florida State Seminoles will travel to the Value City Arena on Wednesday to face off against the No. 15 Ohio State Buckeyes in the in the 11th Annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The last time these two teams met was on Nov. 23, 2000. Ohio walked away with a big 90-65 victory. Ohio State is 3-0 all-time vs. Florida State.
The Seminoles are 6-4 in the 10-year history of the challenge. FSU has a trio of players averaging 10 or more points per game and are led by Chris Singleton’s 12.3 points and team-leading 8.1 rebounds. Derwin Kitchen and Solomon Alabi both contribute just about 10 points a game as well. The Seminoles are fresh off winning the Old Spice Classic Sunday in Orlando, beating Iona, Alabama, and Marquette on their way to earning the title. FSU ranks first in the ACC in field goal percentage defense as it has held its first seven opponents to a .332 shooting mark from the field. The Seminoles have held each of their seven opponents to under 47 percent shooting from the field.
Ohio State is participating in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge for the eighth-consecutive year and has a 2-5 record in the event. The Buckeyes is coming off a 110-47 shellacking over St Francis. Jon Diebler hit five 3-pointers and Evan Turner had 16 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists in the win. Turner is averaging a double double with 19.8 points per game and 12.8 rebounds a contest. As a team, Ohio State is ranked No. 1 in scoring margin (+25.5 ppg.), field goal percentage and 3-pointers made per game (54/9.0), and No. 2 in scoring offense (85.8 ppg.), 3-point shooting percentage (54-139/.388), blocked shots (42/7.0 bpg.) and assists (107/.17.83 apg.).
The Seminoles will have their work cut of for them trying to contain Evan Turner but should be able to keep the Bucks in check with their staunch defense.
The odds makers currently have OSU as 10 ½ -point favorites.
Look for Ohio State to get the win with a solid 3-point clinic.
