2010-2011 Florida Atlantic Season Preview
The Owls used an eight-man rotation last season to improve by eight wins. All eight players return, making Florida Atlantic a legitimate division contender. The Owls have the league’s best crop of young talent in the backcourt, with second-teamers Greg Gantt (league-leading 85 3-pointers) and Ray Taylor (conference leader in assists) back for their sophomore campaigns. Defensive Player of the year Brett Royster (league-leading 2.9 blocks per game), the school’s all-time leading shot blocker, anchors the middle. Third-year coach Mike Jarvis may be a year away from leading his fourth different school to the NCAA Tournament, but this team is NIT-caliber – which should be cause for some joy in Boca Raton.
