Elon Players to Watch: Incoming freshmen posts Sebastian Koch and Lucas Troutman could see plenty of time right away since Matheny lost leading rebounder Adam Constantine and the Phoenix were outrebounded by more than five boards per game last season.

2010-2011 Elon Season Preview

The Phoenix’s one shining moment last season came when coach Matt Matheny was able to lead an upset over his former Davidson boss Bob McKillop in the first round of the SoCon Tournament. In only returning two starters in Drew Spradlin and Chris Long, position battles should be immense from the first day of practice. Long, who shot 82.2 percent at the line, is the quarterback of the offense. He was fourth in the league in assists and could move into second place in Elon history in that category this season. Defense and rebounding will be at a premium early as Elon was near the bottom of the league in those categories.
