2009-2010 Arkansas Little Rock Season Preview

With the league’s top field-goal percentage defense, coach Steve Shields won his fourth division title in six seasons behind a school-record 15 conference wins. The Trojans had back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in 19 years and their most wins since Derek Fisher’s senior season 13 years ago. But when junior point guard Steven Moore was dismissed on Feb. 23, UALR couldn’t survive the loss of its leading scorer. Playing before a partisan crowd (in nearby Hot Springs), the second-seeded Trojans shot 26 percent in a 54-44 conference semifinal loss to South Alabama. UALR loses Shane Edwards (first-team selection) and John Fowler (defensive Player of the Year), and returns just two seniors.
