The start of the post Carmelo Anthony era has been looking great so far for Denver. First they spanked Memphis and then the Nuggets followed that up with another impressive victory over the visiting Celtics last night with new Nugget Wilson Chandler among scoring leaders with 16. The two games they have played with their new lineup have been so opposite each other it is hard to tell whether the Nuggets are planning to change their style to fit the new personnel…but one thing is for sure, speedy point guard Ty Lawson appears ready to become an exciting and possibly elite player at the position. This will be the first trip on the road for this new bunch so it will be interesting to see how they respond. So far everything is looking very good and the team is on a 3-0 SU and ATS run.

Portland’s 6 game winning streak may have come to a close against the Lakers on Wednesday but things are still looking for the Trailblazers as this squad is getting healthier for the stretch run of the season with Brandon Roy back in the lineup. Portland and Denver are neck and neck in the Northwest Division standings so this game has some juice even though the Carmelo Anthony affair is now over and he will be watching this one from his couch in NYC. Portland is very good at home with a 19-8 SU record. This team has been very streaky all season long so it will be interesting to see if the can turn it around quickly and win on Friday night against the hot Nuggets.
The current line on this one is Portland -6.5. Not a ton of value here but the Blazers are the stronger play.
Prediction: This is the first one on the road with the new look Nuggets. I think they will find that a little more challenging given all the adjustments that are being made and will struggle against a Portland team hitting its stride.
Score: Portland 99 – Denver 90
