Denver Nuggets (20-14) at Sacramento Kings (7-25)
10:30 p.m. EST, TV: TNT
The Denver Nuggets, the third-place team in the Western Conference’s Northwest Division, travel to take on the Sacramento Kings, the last-place team in the Western’s Pacific Division, at Arco Arena.
Denver leads the season series 1-0 after routing the Kings 104-86 on New Year’s Day.
The Nuggets didn’t have star Carmelo Anthony for five games (sister’s death), but he came back against the Kings three games ago and was rusty, then warmed up and torched the Rockets in another Denver win. The Nuggets had their four-game winning streak snapped against the Los Angeles Clippers in their last game solely because they didn’t rebound the ball very well, something that it seems highly unlikely that they’ll let send them to a second straight loss. Rebounding, you see, is all about effort. That’s all I got. End of sermon.

Sacramento will be one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, mainly because they’re in the middle of a major rebuilding effort. That being said, they’re better at home, where they’ve won 5 of their 7 games this season, and two straight. Tyreke Evans is a nice player with some off-court/mental issues, and rookie forward DeMarcus Cousins has certainly been one of Sacramento’s bright spots as of late. The rookie center has averaged 22.3 points and 9.8 rebounds in his last four games after a three-game stretch in which he totaled just 13 points.
The Nuggets have turned to Chauncey Billups as of late, and he’s capable of lifting them to wins against subpar teams. The Kings are a young team and their fanbase understands that … they also seem to get better every time they play together, and the combo of Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins could be special. Right now, though, they’re pretty mortal.

Look for the Nuggets to rebound the ball better and win by 5.
