Even March Madness betting players were stunned when Jerry Sloan stepped down after 23 years in charge of the Utah Jazz, and the team promptly lost three in a row to head into the All-Star break, which couldn’t have come at a better time for them. But they have to hit the ground running on Wednesday as Utah will be in Dallas to take on the Mavericks, who have won 14 of their last 16.
Jazz Mavericks Betting – Wednesday, 8:30 PM ET
The Jazz (31-26) have lost four straight overall and are currently in eighth place holding to the final playoff spot in the West. They’ve also lost both of their meetings with the Mavericks, which came in an eight-day span in December, and they shot 41.9% from the floor in those games. Deron Williams averaged 23.0 points and 6.5 assists, while Paul Millsap was next with 18.5 points and 7.5 boards. But Al Jefferson struggled with 13.0 points while shooting 35.3% from the field, and even though he averaged 8.5 rebounds, the Jazz need him to be effective in the post if they’re going to overcome the Mavericks, especially on the road.
Of course, we have to give credit to the Mavericks defensively, and in hockey, you will see teams looking to improve their defense ahead of the NHL trade deadline. The Mavericks did in the offseason by picking up Tyson Chandler, but he has battled foul trouble in both games, fouling out of the first meeting. Dirk Nowitzki has been his usual self, averaging 28.5 points and 10.5 boards in those two victories, but the Mavericks will have to replace Caron Butler, who averaged 16.0 points against the Jazz but has been out since January with a knee injury. That means Jason Terry and Shawn Marion have to step up for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks will be the NBA betting favorites in this contest, which is the first for both teams after the break, and they should be both good and rested to meet for the third time this season. The Mavericks are 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five at home against the Jazz, who are a decent 13-13-1 ATS on the road this season. Dallas is 13-14-2 ATS at home, and they’ll need Chandler to stay on the floor because even though they’ve been on a roll, they allowed 100 points or more in their last five games before the All-Star break, and that is going to eventually bite you. This will kick off a three-game road trip for the Jazz which heads to Indiana and Detroit, which are two places where they should have a better chance of claiming a victory. Go with Dallas in your online sports betting picks.
