With the conference semifinals underway there are four teams left vying for the right to represent the West in the NBA Finals with the hopes of bringing home a World Championship. Here is a look at each series along with each team’s updated odds to win the conference.
#1 Los Angeles Lakers (4-9) vs. #5 Utah Jazz (20-1)
Los Angeles won their first round series against Oklahoma City in their typical laid back California style. After winning two close games at home, they proceeded to lose games two and three on the road. With the series now tied, they put just enough gas on the pedal to win the next two to advance to this round.
In game one of this series, led by Kobe Bryant’s game high 31 points, they raised the energy level up a notch just in time to pull out a 104-99 come from behind win. In game two it was Andrew Bynum’s turn to shine as he scored 17 points, pulled down 14 rebounds and blocked four shots in the Lakers 111-103 win to once again sweep the first two games at home.
Utah loss game one of their first round series against Denver 126-113, but reeled off three straight victories on their way to a 4-2 series win over the Nuggets.
In game one against the Lakers, the Jazz fell behind by eight points after three periods but battled back to take a four point lead late in the fourth. Unfortunately they could not hold on down the stretch, losing a game they could have won. In game two, Paul Millsap scored a team high 26 points off the bench and Carlos Boozer and C.J. Miles each added 20, but once again it was not enough to best LA.
The series now shifts to Utah with game three scheduled for Saturday at 8:00 P.M. (ET) and game four on Monday, April 10th at 10:30 P.M. (ET)
