The Boston Celtics are on a fantastic run right now.  They have won 10 games in a row and their most recent victory was a 31 point drubbing of the Bobcats.  This team is ranked first in offensive FG% and first in points allowed.  With that kind of efficiency it is no surprise that they own the best record in the Eastern Conference.  This is the most complete and balanced team in the NBA and there are not many situations where it is smart to bet against them; but the Knicks played them tough in Boston earlier in the season and the up and down style they play is not preferred by a Boston team loaded with experience.

The New York Knicks are the biggest positive surprise in the NBA right now.  At 16-9 they are soundly in the middle of the Eastern conference and they are proving that they now have the right combination to put away the teams beneath them.  I didn’t like the Amare Stoudemire signing but he is having one of his best seasons and more importantly he seems to be bringing out the best in others as well.  Especially surprising is the play of shooting guard Landry Fields.  A rookie out of Stanford he is averaging just above 10ppg and has proven a consistent shotmaker at 52%.  They are still a notch below the title contenders in the East but this team competes hard.

The current line on this one is Boston -3.  At this low number I am thrilled to back the Celtics.

Prediction: I can not bet against Boston the way they are playing right now.  Sure they will lose eventually but the shouldn’t have too much of a problem in New York, especially with three days off.
