Pitching Probables: A.J. Burnett vs Freddy Garcia

Why would Joe Girardi leave the Yankees to go and manage the Cubs? Why would anyone leave the Yankees to do so? Are the White Sox so dead in the water that this is what people want to talk about this weekend? I guess so. Back to the game tonight the Yankees are in a dead heat with the Rays and are looking for some consistency. That is hard to find when you trot out A.J. Burnett every fifth day. The Yankees have lost the last four times he started and only one of those was a quality start. Oddly, Burnett hasn’t seen the White Sox since 2007 when he struck out 12 Pale Hose batters while walking only 1 in a 3-0 loss. That was back when he was with a pitiful Jays squad. These Yankees are vastly superior although you wouldn’t know it lately.

The White Sox need some victories this weekend to maintain contact with the Twins who will be in Seattle where Ws are easy to come by. There are Manny Ramirez rumors swirling but really this team could use some pitching help especially in the battered bullpen. After turning back to the clock to start the season Freddy Garcia has been pretty awful for a month. He hasn’t faced New York since 2006 so maybe lack of familiarity will give him an advantage. Plus Alex Rodriguez is unlikely to be in the lineup tonight which makes things a tad easier. The White Sox have only been a home underdog nine times all season and are 7-2 in those contests. They seem to enjoy rising to the occasion.

Prediction: Not sure which team will emerge victorious here but I think there will be some runs scored. Play the over.

Chicago is +125 and the O/U is 10.
