After losing six of nine games in 11 days on the road the Texas Rangers will be happy to see the friendly confines of Arlington Park as they begin a four game series against the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.
The Rangers were happy to have their leading hitter back in the lineup as Nelson Cruz had two hits and stole two bases and David Murphy also had a pair of hits as Texas scored three times on three hits and two Boston errors in the seventh to avoid a three-game sweep on Thursday. The win was Texas’ first in a week. Meanwhile, Detroit strung back-back wins together and has now won three out of their last seven with their most recent being a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. The Tigers scored in each of the first three innings with the first two runs coming on an RBI double by Magglio Ordonez and a run-scoring single by Carlos Guillen. Miguel Cabrera singled home another run in the third, and Guillen followed with an RBI groundout. The Tigers bullpen finished the job slamming the door and holding the Halos to just three hits in the final three innings.
The Tigers will try to make it three straight by going with righty; Max Sherzer who went 9-11 in 30 starts with the Diamondbacks in 2009. After a posting a no decision and then a loss to the Kansas City Royals, the 25-year old worked six innings and gave up two earned runs in a 4-2 win over Seattle on April 18. The 2006 1st round draft pick has a single win in one career start versus Texas with a 3.00 ERA.
Starting for Texas will be big 6’7” right-hander Scott Feldman. The 27-year started the season with a no decision against Toronto then followed with a 9-2 defeat over Seattle where he struck out four and allowed just one earned run on seven hits over seven innings. He suffered his first loss surrendering seven hits for four runs in just 2-1/3 innings, before getting the hook in a 7-3 loss at the New York Yankees in his last outing. He is 0-1 in two starts against Detroit with an 8.82 ERA.
The odds makers have the Rangers as –1 ½ -point favorites with a game total of 9 runs.

Detroit left fielder Carlos Guillen strained his left hamstring while running the bases Thursday night against the Los Angeles Angels, and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list.
With the Rangers playing moderately well at home and carrying a bit of the momentum from their when over the BoSox at Fenway, my pick is Texas and the UNDER.
