Trailing 3-2 in the series (after leading 2-1 through Game 3), St. Louis’ odds of winning the World Series aren’t exactly booming, but the Cards are listed as favorites for at least Game 6 on the MLB odds board.
Will the presence of Jaime Garcia on the mound be enough to quell the momentum Texas established in Games 4 and 5? Garcia may have gotten off to a rocky start this postseason, but pitched seven scoreless innings with just three hits allowed his last time out.
The Rangers, runner-up to World Series champion San Francisco last year, will be looking to Colby Lewis to help them wrap up their season on a different note this year and will embrace the opportunity to close the door on the Cardinals for good if it arises on Wednesday. It may take another heroic night from catcher Mike Napoli, but between he and the rest of the club’s stacked batting order, October success doesn’t seem to be a problem.
Can the Cards bounce out of their hole and retake what once was theirs? They’ve come a long way from the distant wild card contender they were at the end of the regular season.
The odds makers have the St. Louis Cardinals as a -1.5 point favorite with an run total of 7.
