Money Line: Milwaukee Brewers -165 / Pittsburgh Pirates +145
Spread: Milwaukee Brewers -1.5
Over/Under: 9
Milwaukee’s offense is on fire, and Prince Fielder is leading the way. Fielder has hit 26 home runs on the year hitting a .417 on-base percentage. The Big man is the leader of this team, and if he is hot, they seemingly can’t lose. However, there is a lot of additional help in the remaining lineup, and leftfielder Ryan Braun is hitting .321 with 21 home runs. When both of these players are at the top of their game, there is no team that can stymie their production.

As for the Pirates’ offense, it is one of the most unentertaining in all of baseball.
Andrew McCutchen, who is known for being extremely streaky, is having a solid season, smashing 16 homeruns on 116 hits, 66 RBIs and has stolen 84 bases. He is an all-around player in every sense of the phrase, and, as of right now, his team will go as far as he can take them.
And while McCutchen doesn’t have a lot of help on offense, the defense backing him up is even more leaky.
So the Bucs will rely in pitching–not stellar either.
On the mound for Pittsburgh will be right-hander Kevin Correia (12-10). Correia has had a fairly disappointing season, with an ERA of 4.78 and just striking out 73 batters. In Correia’s last start, he was taken out in the fifth inning after giving up an ERA of 6.35. If Pittsburgh thinks they have a chance with Correia on the mound, they must be seeing something that no one else is.
Meanwhile, right-hander Marco Estrada (2-7) will move up from a relieving role to start for the Brewers. Estrada has been reliable at times during the season, but lately teams have beat him up pretty badly. In his last start, he was put in for 2/3 inning, and in that small amount of time, he gave up two earned runs for an astounding 27.00 ERA. It is questionable that he is getting an actual start after a performance like that.
These two teams are so far apart, that one would be fool to bet on the Pirates. The Brewers are hungry for victory after getting knocked around by the Cardinals earlier in the week, and they seem primed to take out their frustration on the Pirates.
The odds makers have the Milwaukee Brewers as a -1.5 point favorite with an run total of 9.
Matt’s Free Prediction: Brewers– You could have probably guessed this pick halfway into the this preview. Both teams are putting inexperienced pitchers on the mound, but the Brewers’ offense is the one that has the talent to take advantage of it. Expect this, and the entire season to be dominated heavily in Milwaukee’s favor.
