With Major League Baseball playoffs just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about whom you will bet on to be this year’s World Series champions, or maybe place a wager on who will be this year’s American and National League pennant winners.
First up is the American League. The Yankees has an overall record of (97-56), the best in the league to date and are the first that has secured their bid for post-season action. The Yankees are a big favorite to win the World Series, at +180 odds.
The Detroit Tigers are in first place in the AL Central (82-20) +1500, and the Los Angeles Angels (90-62) sit atop the AL West at +500 odds.
Over in the National League the three favorites are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and St. Louis Cardinals, all sitting at +550 odds.
The Phillies (89-63) are currently are in first place in the NL East, seven games up on the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies are 7-3 in their past 10.
The Dodgers have the second best record in MLB (92-61), and lead the NL West by seven games, while the Cardinals are leading the NL Central by 9.5 games over the Chicago Cubs. The Cards need just a single win to clench the division title.
Next we’ll look at the wildcards. The Boston Red Sox are just six games back of the Pinstripes, and sit atop the AL wild card standings eight games ahead of the Texas Rangers with 10 games remaining. The BoSox weigh in at +500 to clench the championship.
The race is on in the NL wild card standings as the Colorado Rockies, +1200, hold a small three game lead over the Atlanta Braves, +10000, with nine games left. Atlanta is 8-2 in its last 10.
Finally, if you want to wager on which team will win the AL and NL championships, the Yankees are the favorites at –150 to win the AL, while the Dodgers and Cardinals are both at +250 to win the NL.
