Weather could be a factor as two teams looking to return to the post-season this October meet in mid-April as the Chicago White Sox host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Gavin Floyd and Tyler Chatwood are the projected starters for Saturday afternoon’s tilt, but if Friday’s game is postponed due to weather, then the Friday starters (Philip Humber and Jerred Weaver) would take the ball instead.
The White Sox are 7-5 entering play on Friday, but have had some issues closing games this season. After taking three out of four last weekend, at home against Tampa Bay, the Sox lost two of three in the ‘new Comisky’ to Oakland. All three of those games this week against the Athletics went into extra innings, so Floyd will be asked to pitch deep into this game.
With Adam Dunn still feeling the affects of appendicitis, Chicago will continue to look to Paul Konerko to carry the power-hitting load. Konerko and Alex Ramirez have three home runs each this season for Chicago and Konerko also leads the club with 12 RBIs in this young season. Juan Pierre has been pleasantly productive for the ChiSox, scoring eight runs and stealing four bases.
The Angels defeated the Cleveland Indians two of the three games this week at home, including a magnificent pitching performance from Dan Haren, who threw a one-hit complete game shutout on Tuesday for his third win of the season against no losses. Weaver enters Friday’s start with a 3-0 record as well. The rest of the staff is a combined 1-5 on the young season.
Howie Kendrick has four homers already this season, and Torii Hunter continues to hit well for the Halos in the young season. The club would love to get newly acquired center fielder Vernon Wells going. The former Blue Jays average is under .150 in the early season.
The odds makers have the White Sox as a -1.5 point favorite with an run total of 9.

Matt’s Free Prediction: White Sox – Chicago has been solid so far this season in every part of their club except the bullpen. Manager Ozzie Guillen expressed displeasure with the bullpen earlier this week after they blew the lead for a fourth time in this early campaign. It’s not likely to continue on Saturday.
