AFC East Win Totals Predictions

2010 AFC East – Win Totals Preview, Predictions & Picks

AFC East Win TotalsWith all 32 teams eagerly preparing for the 2010 NFL football season, it is time to take a look at the projected win total for each team to try and determine whether they will go over, stay under, or push. Today we take a look at each team in the AFC East.

New England Patriots – Win Total Prediction: 9.5

new england patriots preview
Despite winning the AFC East with a 10-6 record, 2009 had to be considered a disappointment for New England after Baltimore knocked the Patriots out of the playoffs in the Wildcard round. One of the biggest reasons they lost that game was the fact that QB Tom Brady’s No. 1 target; WR Wes Welker was out of the lineup with a knee injury. Right now it appears that Welker will be ready to go when New England opens the regular season at home against Cincinnati. Speaking of home, the Pat’s went a perfect 8-0 there last year. With several of their toughest games being played in the friendly confines of Gillette Stadium, the Patriots should be able to get more than nine wins this season – OVER.

New York Jets – Win Total Prediction: 9.5

new york jets preview
The New York Jets shocked the world last season when they went all the way to the AFC Championship game after barely sneaking in to the playoffs with a 9-7 record. Their brash talking head coach Rex Ryan has everyone in New York thinking Super Bowl, but there are still a few question marks that need to be answered before the Jets start booking tickets for Arlington, TX. First, can second year QB Mark Sanchez play more consistent than he did as a rookie? Will the holdout situation with All Pro CB Darrell Revis get resolved before the regular season starts? Has Ryan put a huge bulls eye on his team’s back with all of his talk? I see a repeat of last year’s nine win record – UNDER.

Miami Dolphins – Win Total Prediction: 8.5
miami dolphins previewGiven the recent history of this team, everything points to a winning season in 2010. In 2007 Miami only managed to win one game and ended up with the worst record in the league. In a dramatic turn around the Dolphins won the AFC East with an 11-5 record in 2008. Reverting back to their old ways, they lost four of their last six games to finish 7-9 in 2009. If Miami is going to once again rebound back to a winning record this season it will have to be behind the play of QB Chad Henne. This will be his first full year as the starter and he cannot afford to get off to a slow start or the Dolphins could be easily buried in the division. Six of their first eight games are against teams that had a winning record last season including Minnesota, Green Bay, Cincinnati, and Baltimore on the road – UNDER.

Buffalo Bills – Win Total Prediction: 5.5

buffalo bills preview

Buffalo hung in there last year by finding a way to win six games with the 30th ranked offense and the 19th ranked defense. The addition of first round pick RB C.J. Spiller should add a spark, but the Bills still have major problems with their passing game and have done nothing to try and improve it. Early injuries this preseason are starting to pile up which will certainly not help its cause, given the fact that Buffalo is already thin at a number of positions. In looking at the Bills schedule there is no good news there either. They face Green Bay, New England, and Baltimore on the road in the first six games and host Miami and the Jets which points to a possible 1-5 start. Later in the season they are at Cincinnati and Minnesota. You can sprinkle in a few games they should win, but overall it looks like another last place finish for Buffalo – UNDER.
