2009-2010 Western Carolina Season Preview
As a freshman, Harouna Mutombo had a coming out party when he led WCU in scoring and was third in the SoCon with 1.8 steals per game. He scored double figures in 10 of the final 13 games while posting strong outings against Connecticut and San Diego State. Coach Larry Hunter will also welcome back senior starters Brandon Giles and Adrian Gailliard. Giles shot 38.8 percent from the 3-point line, while Gailliard became a consistent presence as he started 20 games. The Cats will once again have assist-leader Brigham Waginger as the playmaker and Richie Gordon, who shot 60.6 percent from the field, roaming the paint.
