2009-2010 Akron Season Preview

The breakthrough, after so many near misses under coach Keith Dambrot, finally came last year with the program’s first conference title. The Zips are certainly capable of doing it again with four starters returning, including Chris McKnight, Humpty Hitchens, plus sixth-man Brett McKnight, one of the best reserves in all of college basketball. Akron will miss the leadership of Nate Linhart, but Dambrot added some size, most notably 7-0 Zeke Marshall, who could be the best prospect to enter the MAC in recent memory. All indications are that a repeat of last year’s conference championship is highly likely.
