Packers feast on Lions for Thanksgiving

NFL betting players have watched Green Bay and Detroit face off on Thanksgiving Day 18 times, with the Lions holding an 11-6-1 edge. The Packers head to the Motor City this year, and they’ll fully expect to cut into that lead.

Packers vs Lions betting odds – Thursday, November 26, 12:30 PM ET

The Packers (6-4) held on for a 30-24 win over San Francisco at home, and a late lapse in defensive concentration cost Green Bay 14 points, which may interest those who play NFL odds. Aaron Rodgers had a big day, going 32-of-45 for 344 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and he was only sacked twice. Ryan Grant added 129 yards and a score as well for the Packers, who held the ball for over 41 minutes and wore the San Francisco defense out. Still, they took their foot off the gas late in the game, and they’re not good enough to do that.

The Lions (2-8) pulled out a 38-37 win over Cleveland behind a monster day from Matt Stafford, who showed he may be a very good quarterback in this league for a long time. The rookie was 26-of-43 for 422 yards, five touchdowns and a pair of picks, and he won the game with a one-yard pass to Brandon Pettigrew with no time left. Calvin Johnson caught seven passes for 161 yards and a major, and if this duo has time to grow together, Stafford and Johnson could be in the running for best pass/catch duo….in the future, of course.

The NFL betting odds in your sportsbook have the Packers as a 10.5-point favorite in this contest, and the linesmakers were waiting for the word on Stafford, who hurt his shoulder late in the Cleveland game. The Lions shouldn’t rush the kid back into the lineup, and they’ll be facing a Green Bay defense that loves to blitz because of their great cover corners, Charles Woodson and Al Harris. The Detroit defense got lit up by a terrible Cleveland offense; if Rodgers gets time in the pocket, he’ll carve the Lions like a Thanksgiving turkey. Look for Green Bay’s second win of the year over the Lions after a 26-0 shutout in Green Bay back in October.
