Ravens try to slow down Favre, Peterson

In terms of NFL Week 6 betting, there are a few intriguing clashes and one comes out of Minnesota, where the Vikings will try to remain undefeated when they host Baltimore, who have dropped two in a row.

Ravens vs Vikings odds – Sunday, October 18, 1:00 PM ET

The Ravens (3-2) were let down by uncharacteristic penalties in a 17-14 loss to Cincinnati, committing 10 of them, none more crucial than Ray Lewis’ personal foul on Chad Ochocinco. This is the second week in a row that the Ravens were killed by penalties, and they’ve seemed to have lost some of their discipline since Rex Ryan left for the New York Jets. Joe Flacco was 22of-31 for 186 yards and a touchdown, but he was also picked off twice, and the Ravens went away from the ground game that is so important to their sportsbook odds.

The Vikings cruised to a 38-10 win over St. Louis as Brett Favre was 18-of-24 for 232 yards, a touchdown and a pick, while Adrian Peterson ran for 69 yards and two scores. The Vikings’ defense, led again by Jared Allen, forced four turnovers out of the lowly Rams and Allen ran a fumble 52 yards for a score. The major difference came in the red zone, where the Vikings converted on all four of their opportunities, while the Rams were 0-for-4.

According to your betting software, the Vikings are a 2.5-point favorite at the Metrodome, where the Ravens haven’t visited since a 27-11 loss to Minnesota in 1995, back when they were the Cleveland Browns. This is a huge game for the Ravens, who are looking to show they’re still one of the best teams in the AFC and they need something to halt their downhill slide. The Vikings should watch tape of Baltimore’s loss to Cincinnati as the Bengals ran for 142 yards on a Ravens’ defense that is known for stopping the opposition on the ground. This will be Peterson’s first meeting with the Ravens, and he’s averaged over 113 yards per game at home since coming into the league. Go with the Minnesota Vikings in your NFL picks.
