New York took two of three from Chicago this weekend after routing the Cubs 10-4 on Sunday as a 197 road favorite. The win kept the Yankees just a game and a half behind Boston in the AL East; raising their record to 41-29 overall and 8-2 in their last 10 games. They are 23-17 at home and 18-12 on the road.

Derek Jeter remains on the 15-day DL with a calf strain, but New York’s potent lineup continues to bang out the runs. It is ranked second in the American League in scoring with 372 runs for an average of 5.3 a game. Ivan Nova will be on the mound tonight for New York. He is 6-4 in 13 previous starts and has an ERA of 4.46. Last time out, he gave up seven hits and four earned runs in just 5.2 innings, but still managed to get the win over Texas.

Cincinnati dropped two of three to Toronto over the weekend to fall to 38-35 overall. The Reds trail both St. Louis and Milwaukee by two games in the NL Central. They are 17-18 on the road and 21-17 at home this year.

Scoring has not been an issue this season for Cincinnati as it is ranked first in the National League with 349 runs, but it was this weekend as it only managed to score a total of four total runs in the three games. Fortunately, Johnny Cueto will get the start for the Reds tonight. He has been lights out so far this season with a 4-2 record in eight starts and a miniscule ERA of just 1.68. His last time out he held the Dodgers to five hits and one unearned run in seven innings of work.

The odds makers have the Cincinnati Reds as a -1.5 point favorite with an run total of 9.

These two teams have not faced one another since the Reds took two of three on the road in 2008. This time around, stick with Cincinnati to start this series off with a win, as Cueto shuts the Yankees down.
