For a time it looked like the Jayhawks would lose their grasp on the top spot in the conference this season but Texas’ recent struggles have opened the door. If both win on Saturday then KU is champion again, likely wrapping up a top seed in the process. But winning at Mizzou is never easy so Kansas will have to be sharp to do so. The Jayhawks are still trying to figure out their best backcourt combinations and the Tigers pressure will both challenge and help them in that regard. In broad strokes this is a meaningless game but because it is a rivalry it should be intense and help us learn which players on both teams are ready for whats next.

Mizzou has been sliding lately and needs to right the ship. Nothing would do so more than beating arch rival Kansas on their home floor, potentially denying them another Big 12 title. The challenge for Mizzou is getting the most out of their frontcourt players. When they don’t answer the bell this team really struggles. The last time out these two teams played at a furious pace which is what the Tigers prefer but they may want to slow it down some as Kansas is the rare team that is better offensively on the move than in the halfcourt. I am looking forward to a great game to start the weekend.

The current line on this one is Kansas -2.5. Not a great deal of value in this line. I would pass with Mizzou definitely being the hungrier team.
