William & Mary Players to Watch: Shaver is a rising star and has built William & Mary, a stringent academic institution, into a legitimate competitor on the CAA scene. Last year, the Tribe reached double digits in league wins for only the third time and finished with 20 wins for just the sixth time in their history.

William & Mary Key Losses: David Schneider, G, 6-3, 190 (15.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg); Danny Sumner, G, 6-7, 225 (10.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg); Sean McCurdy, G, 6-1, 184 (4.6 ppg, 3.4 apg)

2010-2011 William & Mary Season Preview

The rebuilding Tribe lost leading scorer David Schneider and Danny Sumner, two prolific shooters who helped William & Mary set the CAA record with 295 3-pointers in a season. In addition, the team’s 22 wins were the third most in school history, while the NIT bid was only the program’s second postseason invitation. Coach Jeff Shaver returns forwards Quinn McDowell and Marcus Kitts. Kitts shot 62.5 percent last season while McDowell nailed 58 3-pointers. Shaver returns four players from the bench who averaged double figures in minutes, so how well they step up could be key.
